The review estimated that should the United Kingdom close this entrepreneurial gender gap, it could generate up to £250 billion ($326.4 billion) in added gross value for the economy.

Additionally, 13% of millennial women said they would like to enter the investment arena in 2019, but feel held back due to their gender.

The government has backed a call by an official review into barriers facing female entrepreneurs to create women-focused financing vehicles.

Yet only one in three entrepreneurs is female, firms with at least one female founder receive just 10 per cent of the funding pie, and women-led businesses are, on average, just 44 per cent of the size of male-led companies.

Both organizations have been selected as eligible recipients of an investment of up to $100,000 through the Women Entrepreneurship Fund to enhance and grow their businesses and help them reach new markets. The idea is to encourage financial institutions to adopt best practices that will benefit female business owners.

Deputy CEO of NatWest Alison Rose, said: "It is imperative that we support female entrepreneurs and capitalise on the missed opportunity which is significant, equating to more than one million missing businesses and £250 billion for the United Kingdom economy".

I am passionate about this cause, and was proud to have been asked to lead this Review.

The Rose Review put forward several recommendations to tackle such issues, including the code on investing in female entrepreneurs which the government has confirmed it will take on. However, only 14% of investors are women, so on International Women's Day 2019, the UK Business Angels Association encourages more women who have the capabilities to become investors to join their local and regional investment communities.

Malignaggi To Compete in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship
I've accomplished some big things in my boxing career, and I look forward to what this next phase brings. Malignaggi, who began his boxing career in 2001, had a professional boxing record of 36-8 (7 KOs).

I want to build a country where all women can go as far as their talents and hard work can take them.

On top of that, when it comes to building a business with £1 million turnover or more, male-run enterprises are five times more likely to deliver this.

Alison and her team set out an ambitious path to break this glass ceiling so that we can realise the full potential of female entrepreneurs and boost economic growth.

The UK Business Angels Association has found that a large factor inhibiting women from angel investing is the lack of prominent women role models within the industry and the consequential lack of mentorship associated to successful investment.

In response, the government has also launched a new Code for Investing in Women to held increase female entrepreneur numbers by 50 per cent to 600,000 by 2030.

Together we can fire up Britain's entrepreneurial spirit for the 21st Century and ensure no one is held back from realising their full potential.

The Rose Review said that perceived bias within the United Kingdom venture finance community was a concern.
