REPORT Cardinals to sign LB Jordan Hicks to 4-year deal

Per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Hicks gets a four-year, $36 million deal with $20 million guaranteed.

Part of that responsibility involves making upgrades on defense, and signing Jordan Hicks, who helped the Philadelphia Eagles win the Super Bowl two seasons ago, certainly qualifies as a notable upgrade to an inconsistent linebacker corps. In four seasons with the Eagles, Hicks played 43 out of 64 regular season games, recording seven interceptions, five sacks, and 254 combined tackles.

While he proved his pass coverage skills well before that - Hicks posted career highs with five picks and 11 passes defensed in 2016 - he graded out 10th in the NFL in run-defense during the 2018 season, per Pro Football Focus. While Nigel Bradham has played well in Hicks' absence in the past, the Eagles may prefer to have a player with more speed at the position.

Lucy Hale to Star in Riverdale Spin-Off Katy Keene
She will leave Riverdale this season so that she can play an older version of her current character, Josie McCoy, in the new show. In the meantime, she's stuck working as a much less glamorous personal shopper to make ends meet.

Under defensive coordinator Vance Joseph's guidance, the Cardinals will be switching to a 3-4 look, shifting former defensive end Chandler Jones to outside linebacker.

The Arizona Cardinals upgraded the middle of their defense with a stud linebacker. Sure, Hicks' injury history is mildly concerning, but he's just 26 and can give this Arizona team plenty of value over the course of his four-year deal.
