Chiefs To Franchise Dee Ford, Listen To Trade Offers

Chiefs tag Dee Ford but Jets can still trade for Pro Bowl pass rusher

Chiefs tag Dee Ford but Jets can still trade for Pro Bowl pass rusher

Why he was tagged: The Chiefs had no other strong candidate to become their franchise player, so they could negotiate a long-term deal knowing they had this option with Ford if their efforts failed.

The list of pass rushers in free agency for the Indianapolis Colts continues to shrink as the Kansas City Chiefs are set to place the franchise tag on linebacker Dee Ford.

Ford will be shopped on the trade market after receiving the tag, according to ESPN.

The Chiefs plan to start Ford, but with their defense switching from a 3-4 to a 4-3, they will also entertain trade offers for the 27-year-old, Schefter added.

Reform and Centre campaigned on tax changes, the former to help job creation and the latter to boost state revenues. The party signed a memorandum of understanding with Russian President Vladimir Putin's United Russia party in 2004.

However, Kansas City is willing to keep Ford this season and will play him in the new defense if they can not find a trade partner.

Ford's franchise tag will be worth approximately $15.8 million. He said late last season that it was a "no-brainer" for him to sign the one-year tender if the Chiefs made him their franchise player.

Not only that, Ford isn't exactly the favorite person among Chiefs fans right now, given that his inability to line up onside in the AFC title game cost the team a potential game-winning interception, and a Super Bowl berth.

But let's not overlook that Ford is great at rushing the passer, and he's coming off a 13-sack season, so he can clearly still get the job done.
