Cohen's Book Manuscript Shows He Committed Perjury

Donald Trump says Michael Cohen testified there was no collusion — he did not say that

On Thursday, Elijah Cummings, the head of the House Oversight Committee that grilled Michael Cohen Wednesday, announced that he meant to speak with the president's eldest son and daughter, after Cohen claimed that both Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump had been briefed "approximately 10" times about the Trump Tower Moscow project.

Mr Cohen, who testified again on Thursday (Friday AEDT) behind closed doors, suggested that Congress interview seven other Trump Organisation staffers and associates - including Mr Weisselberg and Mr Sater - and also seek Mr Trump's tax returns and other financial documents. "Mr. Cohen testified truthfully before the House Oversight Committee", he said in a statement reported by The Hill.

He described how Trump ordered him to lie to the first lady about his relationship with an adult-film star and personally directed a hush-money scheme. "You just have to be very practical and very smart about who you bring up here", he said.

Well, a Democratic aide familiar with committee chairman and Rep. Adam Schiff's (D-Calif.) plans tells us that the answer to this question lies in points three and four of the document Schiff recently released that details questions he hopes to answer with his planned Russian Federation investigation.

He had refused to discuss certain subjects of interest to investigators, they said, or to give them a full debriefing on any criminal acts he may have committed in the past.

But while some Democrats want to haul the rest of the family in front of congressional committees, some Democrats on Oversight have cautioned that public hearings with Trump's children might not be the optimal forum to follow up on Cohen's claims.

Cohen told lawmakers Wednesday that some of Trump's lawyers, including Jay Sekulow, edited those statements before he delivered them to Congress, changing details about the timeline of Trump's efforts to build a tower in Moscow. Among other things, Cohen said that, during the 2016 election, Trump was aware of WikiLeaks plans to release emails hacked from the Democratic National Committee and the campaign of his opponent Hillary Clinton. According to Cohen, Trump made it clear what narrative he hoped the country would hear and that that's what he wanted to hear from Cohen; apparently this approach is a common tactic in mobster settings to avoid direct instructions.

With prison looming, Michael Cohen now says he is in "constant contact" with federal prosecutors in NY, providing them with information in an attempt to get his sentence reduced. It was signed by Mr Weisselberg and the President's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr, who are helping run Mr Trump's businesses while he is in the White House. Daniels was also mentioned frequently.

Don't worry though, fans will still get to have their say: Once a movie is released, audiences can leave a user rating and comments as they always have.

Michael Cohen unfurled a series of accusations against his former boss Donald Trump in a day of testimony before Congress, including assertions that may pose additional legal peril for the president. Here's an example: "Nine years ago, a lawyer representing Trump Atlantic City casino creditors says he got threatening phone calls".

Cohen's testimony was also followed closely by state prosecutors in NY.

Two of Trump's most vocal defenders, GOP Reps. Jim Jordan of OH and Mark Meadows of North Carolina, sent a referral to the Justice Department alleging Cohen lied in his testimony.

Cohen tore into Trump, saying "he is a racist".

But the president also said that he was a "little impressed" that Cohen told the committee that there was no collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation.

"I said, 'Why didn't he lie about that, too?'" Trump said.

Like its House counterpart, this committee also oversees US intelligence agencies.

Cohen, shaking off incessant criticism from Republicans, was the first Trump insider to pull back the curtain on a version of the inner workings of Trump's political and business operations.
