Dan Carter's trumpeted return to Top 14 side until the end of the season is off after the player failed a medical, it has been revealed.

The double World Cup victor was set to rejoin his former club as an injury replacement for Pat Lambie at fly half but Racing has confirmed that the deal is off on medical grounds.

But the French club announced this morning Carter's return has been cancelled. Their opinion was unanimous: "Dan Carter can't play rugby in France", said a statement.

Carter had been playing for Kobelco Steelers.

"We are very disappointed of course but. the law is harsh but it is the law and we don't compromise players' health".

It was announced last month that the 36-year-old would be signing for Racing 92 as a medical joker.

Pak's Punjab Province Minister Sacked Over 'Anti-Hindu Remarks'
A video had gone viral of Chohan making the remarks while responding to Indian rhetoric in the aftermath of the Pulwama attack. PTI government will not tolerate this nonsense from a senior member of the government or from anyone.

"We wish Dan all the best for the future, a future as bright as his vast career".

Racing 92 has released a statement to confirm Carter, who will turn 37 on Tuesday, will not be joining the club.

According to reports, the short-term contract was set to earn the former All Black between €25,000 ($41,847 NZD) and €35,000 ($58,587 NZD) a month.

"I take offense to those who boast of singing these men and who advertise that it is the messiah who arrives". I would have preferred, if we are Racing, that we take the small number 10 and prepare it, but we prefer to be reassured by going looking for Carter.

Carter has recently finished up his first season in Japan with Kobe Steelers, and helped guide them to the title - while being named the league's MVP.
