While the Miami Dolphins are preparing to go through a youth movement, the front office has deemed it fit to bring in a veteran voice to the extremely young tight end room by signing Dwayne Allen to a two-year, $7 million dollar deal, as reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Allen made nine starts for the Patriots during the regular season, his seventh in the National Football League, and was used primarily as a blocker.

He was targeted only 26 times as a receiver in his two years in New England and caught 13 of those targets for 113 yards.

The NAO has suggested this is because employers are choosing higher level apprenticeships, which tend to be more expensive. Also, there has been a decline in the lower-level apprenticeships and a rise in the higher, degree equivalent ones.

For his National Football League career, the seven-year National Football League veteran has 139 receptions for 1,564 yards and 20 touchdowns. He will likely compete with 2018 second-round pick Mike Gesicki for Miami's starting tight end job.

By signing with the Dolphins, the 29-year-old will be reunited with ex-Pats de-facto defensive coordinator Brian Flores, who was named Miami's newest head coach earlier this offseason, as well as a handful of other former Patriots coaches who followed Flores to South Beach. One of his best seasons as a professional was his rookie season with the Colts where he had 45 catches for 521 yards and three touchdowns.

O'Leary was signed to the practice squad last September, impressed enough not only to earn a promotion but a modest contract extension that will pay him $1.5 million in 2019.
