Fitzpatrick leads, McIlroy surges at Bay Hill

Rory McIlroy My Sundays haven’t been what I would have liked

Rory McIlroy My Sundays haven’t been what I would have liked

McIlroy, who is without a win since his triumph at Bay Hill last year, has finished in the top six in each of his five appearances on the PGA Tour this year and insisted he was not dwelling on his struggles to close out from the final group.

Molinari watched the birdie putt kiss off the pin and into the cup, and the normally reserved Italian raised his fist and hammered it down in celebration, knowing that would make him hard to beat.

The new Rules of Golf allow the flag to be left in for putts in the green, and most players leave it there on long putts.

Asked what had elevated his game over the past year, he said confidence had a lot to do with it.

The win is Molinari's fourth in the last calendar year, and there have been some gems. "But obviously, when you get it done, then at the end it's a great feeling". He also ranked just 39th in the field in strokes gained putting.

McIlroy, one behind going into the final round, had curled in a 15 foot birdie putt at the third to share the lead, but a five-foot birdie chance spun out at the next and he dropped a shot at the par three seventh after missing the green.

"I've had to tell myself [to have] patience at times, " McIlroy said.

"I'm playing well, I'm getting myself into contention every week, continue to do that, going into next week [at the Players Championship]", McIlroy said.

"Tough day, " McIlroy said. "You don't have to wait too long to get back on the horse". "So, no, I'm happy with everything".

USA may demand ‘allies’ pay 150% for privilege of hosting troops
At the National Security Council - where officials say the idea originated - officials declined to confirm or deny the proposal. Critics argue that the demand also misreads the benefits that overseas troop deployments bring to the U.S.

Molinari now lays claim to being one of the most clutch players in world golf. I don't want to overstate the importance of learning how to win on the best tour in the world, but there's certainly still a little "I kind of need to see it to believe it" lingering with Fleetwood. "It's easier to keep some sort of control when you're hitting the shots".

The 2011 PGA Championship victor Keegan Bradley fired a 68 that included six birdies to seize a share of a 36-hole lead for the first time since 2013.

Jake McLeod of Australia made a hole-in-one on the third hole and finished with an eagle for a 6-under 66 that put him into a tie for sixth.

Final-round, final-pairing blues are becoming a part of Rory McIlroy's narrative.

There was plenty of movement in the third round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational, a reason why Saturday's are dubbed "moving day".

Palmer no doubt would have been impressed by Molinari's Sunday 64, and he would have been proud of the way Bay Hill played all week.

"It's phenomenal", Fitzpatrick said of Molinari's round.

"Probably have to say my best putting round ever". He had two birdies, two bogeys and a 72 to tie for sixth. Then things went really bad. It wasn't until late in the round that 24-year-old Englishman Fitzpatrick passed him after a bogey-free round of 67.

Laughing in the face of adversity certainly doesn't hurt the strong Canadian brand on the PGA Tour. As the sun began to set, the Sheffield man was the only player who could halt another Molinari victory procession, a task in which there was no shame in falling short. Might have defended Arnold Palmer Invitational title he'd holed out better.
