The Dutch model, Lotte van der Zee, was on a family ski trip when she suffered from a heart attack.

A former Miss Teen Universe has died after suffering a fatal heart attack on a ski trip.

She spent two weeks in a coma before life support was withdrawn on Wednesday.

The Dutch model was just days away from her 20th birthday when she passed away this week.

The couple shared a pic of themselves kissing their daughter while in the sea, writing about the reason for Lotte's public absence. "She was helped to the nearest hospital where she got into a coma".

"A feeling that swiftly escalated in sudden cardiac arrest".

After being resuscitated by her mother, Miss Van der Zee was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was put in a medically induced coma and transferred to a specialist hospital in Munich, Germany. "We are grateful for the support of everyone and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love and positivity in these times when she needs it most", they continued, sharing the news alongside a smiling photo of the parents kissing Lotte on her cheeks. It is incredibly surreal that our dearly beloved Lotte is not around us anymore. That is why we want to thank you for all the attractive messages and for your honest and loving support.

Lotte's parents first addressed their daughter's health battle in an Instagram post dated February 22, two days after she went into cardiac arrest.

Speaking to a Dutch newspaper, Bert van der Zee and Eugenie van het Hul, said that their daughter went out with friends, but had returned home "cheerfully and without health complaints".

"Last Monday we saw that this hope faded". "Lotte was a attractive, sweet, spontaneous girl and made this hard world a lot nicer and more enjoyable for me".

Awful news. Our thoughts go out to her family. Our hearts continue to go out to Lotte's family and friends during this hard time.

But she did not appear for breakfast and when her parents went to check on her they found her ill in bed.

Her parents plan to have tests done to determine what brought on the sudden heart attack.
