Rice has been in outstanding form for West Ham this term and appeared twice for England during the recent global break, having switched his worldwide allegiance from the Republic of Ireland.

"In that case as always it's just a matter of price", the Chilean is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

"There are big teams who decide to pay an important amount of money".

"If it's a good deal for the club and it's a good deal for the player and he improves with his career, they can do it".

West Ham are now tenth in the league table and Pellegrini is hoping that his team earn three points and look to push up the league table towards the end of the season.

Rice attracted many plaudits for his performance in front of the back four on his full Three Lions debut in the 5-1 Euro 2020 qualifier win over Montenegro.

Speaking upon the signing of his new Hammers' contract which could see him stay at the London Stadium until the 2023/24 season, Rice expressed his commitment to the club.

But his composure on the global stage came as no shock to his club manager.

Pellegrini was unsurprisingly asked about the possible interest in Rice as he spoke to the press ahead of the weekend's Premier League clash with Everton, but his response will have done little to fill Hammers fans with confidence when it comes to keeping their best players. "He is a top, top player", Pellegrini added.

"He must continue doing exactly what he is doing now, to work in the same way, have the same mentality".

Pellegrini confirmed playmaker Samir Nasri is a doubt with a calf problem, while striker Andy Carroll is continuing to undergo tests on his injured ankle.
