The president's schedule Thursday promised a "joint agreement signing ceremony" after the meeting. He said there had been a proposed agreement that was "ready to be signed".

Kim said they had overcome obstacles to meet a second time and praised Trump for his "courageous decision" to begin a dialogue.

Rodman's tweet comes as Trump is in Hanoi, Vietnam with Kim for their second summit.

Trump will hold a news conference before boarding his flight home.

When asked by reporters afterwards if he would allow a USA liaison office in the North Korean capital, Pyongyang, Mr Kim said it was something he would "welcome".

Asked if he would declare a formal end to the Korean War, President Trump said: "We'll see".

"I think he's just more comfortable doing it that way", Davis told reporters at a summit briefing.

But in a change of schedule, the White House said Trump's media conference planned for after the summit was moved forward by nearly 2 hours to 2.00 p.m.

Kim said they had overcome obstacles to hold the summit in Vietnam and had needed patience since their first meeting in Singapore previous year.

USA intelligence officials remain skeptical that Pyongyang intends to follow through on Kim's Singapore pledge to denuclearize.

"Yongbyon is the heart of North Korea's nuclear program", nuclear scientist Dr. Siegfried Hecker told NBC. There are also suspected hidden nuclear fuel production sites around the country. "A decent outcome if we can get some concrete and verifiable commitments toward denuclearisation", he said, although the USA would have to "trust but verify".

Possible outcomes could include a peace declaration for the Korean War that the North could use to eventually push for the reduction of USA troops in South Korea, or sanctions relief that could allow Pyongyang to pursue lucrative economic projects with the South. He added that "a lot of great ideas were being thrown about" at their opulent dinner the night before.

Senate Confirms Former Coal Lobbyist Wheeler to Head EPA
They have longed for one of their own calling the shots at the agency, and now they finally have their man in Andrew Wheeler. Wheeler will do in office", Gore said.

"I don't want to put myself in that position from the standpoint of negotiation", he said.

Republicans blocked it. The White House has never provided information on what Putin and Trump talked about.

The leaders are holding a series of meetings at the Metropole hotel in Hanoi.

Both Trump and Kim also expressed a favorable view of the possibility of North Korea allowing the United States to open an office in Pyongyang.

The response marked the first time the 35-year-old dictator has ever been known to reply to a question from a foreign journalist.

The Hanoi meeting was Trump's second meeting with Kim in eight months and he appeared to reiterate recent statements that he was in no rush.

While Trump indicated a more flexible stance in the run-up to the Hanoi summit, critics had warned that he risked squandering vital leverage over North Korea if he gave away too much, too quickly.

Asked by a USA reporter Thursday in Hanoi whether he's willing to denuclearize, Kim responded: "If I'm not willing to do that, I won't be here right now". "It has such potential", the American leader said. "He felt badly about it".

Before the summit, Senator Ed Markey, D, said he thought Kim requested the private meeting with hopes that he could "elicit concessions from President Trump that might not otherwise be possible if it was just our diplomats talking one-on-one".

Kim, for the first time, affably parried with the global press without having to account for his government's long history of oppression.

The Korean conflict ended in 1953 with an armistice, essentially a cease-fire signed by North Korea, China and the 17-nation, USA -led United Nations Command. Even without an agreement, Trump's backing for the step toward normalization provided the sort of recognition the global community has long denied Kim's government.
