Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has made a global voluntary recall of a number of models for repairs and software updates, after it emerged that they were emitting more C02 than they were certified to emit.

JLR also declared that it shall be contacting the owners of the affected vehicles in order to arrange free-of-charge repairs.

The country's biggest auto manufacturer said the vehicles are emitting more of the greenhouse gas than expected.

The recall affects Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles fitted with either a 2.0-litre petrol or 2.0-litre diesel engine.

Love Island's Mike Thalassitis Found Dead Aged 26
Mike had also appeared in Celebs Go Dating and was in a relationship with TOWIE's Megan McKenna before breaking up previous year . He recently announced a competition for his followers on Instagram, in which he would pay the rent of the victor for two months.

The problem was first identified by the UK's Vehicle Certification Authority, which discovered a discrepancy between the stated Carbon dioxide emissions and the actual Carbon dioxide output of the affected cars during conformity testing. The British manufacturer then contacted the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency and an alert was made via the European Commission's rapid alert system. The most exciting version of JLR's 2.0-litre range produces 300hp in the F-Type P300 - although we're yet to learn whether that specific variant is included in the recall.

The alerts for each auto all say the same thing: "Certain vehicles fitted with 2.0-litre diesel engines may emit excessive levels of Carbon dioxide and may not conform with the certified condition".

While today's announcement is far from the largest recall the industry has seen in recent years, the cost of carrying out work on 44,000 cars will come as a blow to the brand.

In January the firm confirmed it is cutting 4,500 jobs, with the substantial majority coming from its 40,000 strong United Kingdom workforce. As of now, JLR is not saying what the fix will entail. Its CEO, Ralf Speth, has repeatedly warned the United Kingdom government against a "bad Brexit deal", which could cost the company billions per year. Only the headline has been changed.
