Kremlin press secretary’s daughter scores internship with right-wing European Parliament member

Elizaveta Peskova, the daughter of Vladimir Putin's spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, is working in the European Parliament (EP) as a "trainee" for a French far-right MEP, Aymeric Chauprade.

Chauprade, a former advisor to Marine Le Pen in global affairs, told Euronews that Peskova, the daughter of Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, had been interning in his office since November but that she did not have access to any confidential information.

Chauprade is Vice-Chair of the Europe of Freedom and Democracy (EFD) group, in which the largest force is UKIP, followed by Italy's Lega.

Peskova's name appears on Chauprade's official European Parliament webpage and Chauprade confirmed to RFE/RL that she is part of his team.

Chauprade said in an interview with The Associated Press that Peskova started working for him last November and plans to leave at the end of April.

Chauprade worked for the right-wing National Rally party in 2014 but left a year later after a fight with its leaders, becoming independent after that.

According to the programme, she receives 1,000 euros, just like his other trainees, and has no access to confidential data.

United States economic growth continues to slow
It expanded at a 2.6 percent annualized rate in the fourth quarter, a slowdown from the 3.4 percent growth in the third quarter. With consumer spending slowing, some of the imports ended up in warehouses, accelerating the pace of inventory accumulation.

Peskova can not attend closed-door debates nor participate in the work of an EU/Russia delegation that Chauprade belongs to, he claimed.

French Socialist MEP Christine Revault d'Allonnes-Bonnefoy told AFP she was "appalled" and "surprised" that the European Parliament had validated her position.

"This is really shocking".

He was an observer during Moscow's rushed 2014 referendum on a Crimea annexation, which is not recognised internationally, and told AFP: "I have never hidden that I consider Crimea to be historically Russian".

Meanwhile, the European Union expects to be targeted, in particular by Moscow, during the parliamentary elections in May.

The Kremlin representative considers it a regular student internship that has nothing to do with his official duties.
