Lamborghini has revealed the Aventador SVJ Roadster for the Geneva motor show this week, which the company says brings "exclusive open air driving perfection".

While Lamborghini will make 900 examples of the Aventador SVJ coupe, the roadster will be a rarer bird. It's made from high-pressure carbon fiber that adds just 110 pounds to the vehicle compared to the coupe's 3,362-pound dry weight. The roadster configuration costs little in terms of performance as it sprints from 0-62 miles per hour in 2.9 seconds, compared to 2.8 seconds for the coupe.

There's active flaps in the front splitter and rear wing that constantly monitor conditions to react in less than 500 milliseconds to "ensure the best aerodynamic set-up in every driving condition". Like on the standard Aventador Roadster, the SVJ's roof consists of two removable carbon-fiber panels that stow inside the front cargo area, and the Roadster also gets an electronically retractable rear window. Those elements manage to selectively channel air away from the prominent rear wing to reduce drag (and therefore increase speed) on a straightaway, while allowing the wing to do its job and increase downforce when braking.

The engine gets a titanium intake valve, a newly-shaped intake runner and modified intake cylinder head duct for "higher flow coefficient".

The SVJ Roadster is epic in both specs and design, though the numbers are a little predictable. It is the most powerful V12-engined auto Lamborghini have produced.

America and China 'close to agreeing deal that ends trade war'
Among the biggest losses for American farmers: oilseeds and grains exports, which are top agricultural products that Iowa farmers send to China .

Like other Aventadors, the SVJ Roaster also features all-wheel drive with a rear-bias, magnetorheological dampers that balance ride and comfort, and rear-wheel steering to carve apexes at an even grander scale. Track-focused Pirelli P Zero Trofeo rubber is optionally available. For the latter, anti-roll stiffness has been improved by 50 percent compared to the SV Roadster. The SVJ Roadster incorporates the same 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V-12 engine from the coupe, which churns 770 horsepower. The cabin also features a digital instrument cluster, Global Positioning System navigation and Apple CarPlay compatibility. This is before Lamborghini's Ad Personam customisation programme comes into play.

Pricing for the SVJ Roadster starts at $574,966, not including the gas guzzler tax.

The coupe retailed for a hefty $949,640 plus on-roads when it went on sale in August a year ago, so if offered locally we'd expect the SVJ Roadster to nudge, or even eclipse the $1 million mark.
