Czech lion attack

A man has been mauled to death by a 9-year-old lion he kept in his backyard at his home in the eastern Czech Republic.

Prasek's father found his son's body in the lion's enclosure and it was locked from inside.

The deceased man had been fined for illegal breeding.

This heartbreaking outcome is not a resolution; it's a complete failure of a system that allowed an inexperienced person to purchase and imprison wild animals. On arriving at the scene, the police had shot the animals dead in other to get Prasek's corpse in the cage.

"The police had to shoot the two lions in order to get to the man who was with the animals", police spokeswoman, Lenka Javorkova, said.
According to local news website Novinky.cz, the lioness was pregnant.

The 34-year-old breeder kept two lions, a two-year-old female and the male, without the required veterinary licence and in an enclosure built without a permit at the village opf Zdechov.

A lion attacked and killed its owner early on Tuesday in a small village in South Moravia of the Czech Republic, according to local media.

Last summer, Prasek once again made news when a cyclist crashed into his lion while out walking the beast on a leash. The cyclist was hospitalized for his injuries.
