Lucy Hale to Star in Riverdale Spin-Off Katy Keene

Variety reports that the upcoming CW pilot Katy Keene, a spinoff of its acclaimed teen drama Riverdale, has found its titular star in Pretty Little Liars veteran Lucy Hale. The major announcement was revealed today on Monday, March 11. Now, the cast details have finally been revealed! The character of Katy is described as a bold, big-hearted and independent twenty-something New Yorker, who aspires to be a fashion designer. The show will focus on four different Archie Comics characters as they navigate their twenties and chase their dreams in New York City.

In the meantime, she's stuck working as a much less glamorous personal shopper to make ends meet.

Are you looking forward to the musical spin-off or not? Keene is a future fashion icon, and is joined by Riverdale's Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray), who moves to NY to try and pursue a singing career. She will leave Riverdale this season so that she can play an older version of her current character, Josie McCoy, in the new show.

Hale, who's known for starring in the Freeform hit series Pretty Little Liars and was last seen on the small screen in the short-lived CW dramedy Life Sentence, joins previously cast Camille Hyde (Power Rangers Dino Charge), Lucien Laviscount (Scream Queens), Ashleigh Murray (Riverdale), Jonny Beauchamp (Stonewall) and Julia Chan (Silent House).

Riverdale's Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, as well as Michael Grassi, are the ones who took it upon themselves to create Katy Keene!

If you cast your foggy minds back to 2017, you'll remember that there were rumours about Lucy joining Riverdale after fans misinterpreted an Instagram conversation between her and Madelaine Petsch.

As of right now, The CW has only ordered a pilot episode of Katy Keene. Thousands of people have commented their excitement for her new role.
