Di Lauro was one of Italy's four most-wanted criminals

A mafia fugitive has been arrested after more than 14 years on the run.

As 150 police officers surrounded the flat he surrendered peacefully, telling the officers: "Think about my two cats and don't leave them alone tonight".

Marco Di Lauro was number two on Italy's most-wanted list, just after Sicilian mobster Matteo Messina Denaro, who has been on the run since 1993.

Italian media said he was considered the second most risky man in Italy, after Sicilian Mafia boss Matteo Messina Denaro.

The high-profile police intervention was warmly welcomed by the locals as dozens of people gathered outside the building to watch the famous mobster being seized.

Di Lauro was considered the second most unsafe man in Italy, after Sicilian Mafia boss Matteo Messina Denaro, according to Italian media.

"Another blow to the organised crime from the authorities", Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte wrote on Twitter. The interior minister, Matteo Salvini, voiced congratulations for a "very important operation".

Travis Scott denies cheating on Kylie Jenner
The accusations arrive at a hard time for Jenner, who's reportedly "very torn" over her fractured friendship with Woods. Even though Jordyn Woods was Kylie Jenner's BFF, the mogul still has people she considers close friends.

In 2010, an informant said that Di Lauro was responsible for at least four murders, according to AFP.

Tamburrino, 40, handed himself in for shooting dead Norina Mattuozzo, 33, shortly before De Lauro's arrest.

Police chief De Iesu refused to confirm or deny a link between the murder and Di Lauro's arrest.

Europol said Di Lauro had joined a criminal organisation that clashed with other mafia groups in 2000, starting the so-called "secondigliano feud" which resulted in several homicides.

The gangster is considered to be the head of the Di Lauro clan as his father Paulo Di Lauro, the famous boss of Neapolitan mafia the Camorra, which the clan operates under, was jailed in 2005. The bloody gangland war that followed in 2004 claimed the lives of at least 70 people.

All the brothers are now either in prison or dead, Italian newspapers reported.
