Hunt briefly appeared in court on Tuesday morning, where his arraignment was delayed until next month.

He and other family members were in Los Angeles County Superior Court in Pomona as Hunt made a brief appearance but did not enter a plea.

He was booked at the Norwalk Sheriff's Station later that day, inmate records show.

The family said Graham and Hunt are each held on a $2 million bond.

Lt. Scott Hoglund of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said authorities think Trinity was left in light brush by an equestrian trail the evening of March 3.

Hunt is reportedly the boyfriend of Trinity's mother, Taquesta Graham, who is now in jail on an unrelated warrant.

During the course of the investigation, homicide detectives identified Hunt as a person of interest after reviewing evidence, conducting interviews and following up on hundreds of tips received from the community, authorities said.

Prosecutors say Hunt has a previous child abuse conviction from 2005 in San Diego County. Graham is a registered sex offender, according to California's sex offender registry.

If convicted, Hunt faces a sentence of up to 50 years to life in state prison.

The dead girl was found March 5 by a park worker who spotted part of her upper body sticking out of a black duffel bag at the bottom of an embankment in Hacienda Heights, just southeast of Los Angeles.

Antonio Jones, the father of the victim, said the girl had been living with her mother, Taquesta Graham, and she hadn't let him see the girl. "She was covered up with grass, like the bush was kind of covering her hair, and then she was wrapped up in a blanket, and she was stuffed in a duffel bag".

He described the girl's face as being peaceful, nearly as if she were asleep. The cause of death was being withheld, according to the coroner. Authorities had said the body was there for less than 48 hours when it was found and put out a sketch to help identify the child.

Investigators have detained two "persons of interest", but the sheriff's department has not explained whether or how they might be connected to the case.
