Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's boss says he has not spoken to Manchester United recently about the prospect of the club offering his manager a permanent job and is still hopeful he will return to Molde FK after his stint at Old Trafford.

United's run of form has seen them close an 11-point deficit on the top four positions to now sit one point adrift of fourth-place Arsenal in the Premier League.

United had until 5 p.m. on Friday (March 1) to inform Valencia - still club captain at Old Trafford - that his deal had been extended until 2020, but the deadline was allowed to pass without the 33-year-old receiving notification.

"He's still not 100 per cent fit, still working to get back fit", Solskjaer told reporters on Friday ahead of the visit of Southampton. "He is one of the Premier League winners left in the dressing room but at the moment I'm not sure if Manchester United and Antonio will agree on the next year".

George Pell's lawyer Robert Richter says his comments were 'terrible' and 'inappropriate'
Prosecutors have flagged Pell is facing "significant" jail time and he will be registered as a serious sex offender. But the Victorian County Court yesterday received a glowing endorsement of Pell's character from Mr Howard .

Other reports have indicated Man United were ready to pay De Gea a wage of £350,000-a-week, but the player's representatives - whose fees for the deal are also a potential stumbling block - have reiterated demands that De Gea's importance to the club is reflected by the Spaniard becoming its highest earner. "He's the captain and a great servant to the club so hopefully I can get him on the pitch to show what he can do".

"He's still not 100% fit", Solskjaer said.

United striker Marcus Rashford is set to start against the Saints but team-mate Anthony Martial has not yet fully recovered from a groin injury, Solskjaer has revealed.

Solskjaer's side remain unbeaten in the Premier League since the Norwegian took charge in December, having won nine games and drawn two to reignite their Champions League prospects. "It might just be a few more days before he's ready", he said.
