Big Ten rival Purdue also congratulated IN on the victory, as the Spartans' defeat gives the Boilermakers sole possession of first place IN conference standings. It was that pesky attitude that helped the Hoosiers beat the Spartans the first time in East Lansing and lifted in over Michigan State for the second time this season, potentially dashing the Spartans' Big Ten title hopes.

A would-be game-winning shot by Cassius Winston in the final seconds was off the mark and in fans rushed the court to celebrate the upset win. But he committed a turnover and missed a jumper as the Spartans (23-6, 14-4) pushed for the go-ahead basket in the final stretch.

Michigan State led by double digits early in the second half, but the Hoosiers came back until Indiana's Juwan Morgan made an and-one with 1:46 left to give in its first lead since the opening minute of the game.

Indiana: With two wins over the Spartans and another win against No. 20 Iowa, the Hoosiers have proven they are a scary team despite their conference record. And after IN used its foul to give and Michigan State had one last gasp that ended IN Winston's miss.

Michigan State held a lead all afternoon long, but IN just wouldn't go away. Can't lose two games against a mediocre IN team and expect to walk away with a Big Ten title - especially when you allow 15 offensive rebounds and score just 62 points. Kenny Goins had 14 points, while Xavier Tillman had 11.

Smith had 24 points for Indiana. The Hoosiers entered the week largely off the bubble, but wins over Wisconsin and Michigan State have launched them back into the picture.
