Major League Baseball (MLB) is the most historic professional sports league in the United States and consists of 30 member clubs in the USA and Canada, representing the highest level of professional baseball. Bookmakers say that betting on baseball in general is minimal, despite being offered with sport betting operators in Nevada and offshore. The New Britain Bees are the only team in the league in New England.

Several proposed rule changes and experimental equipment will be announced in the coming weeks, according to a joint statement from MLB and the Atlantic League.

As part of the agreement, pitch-tracking technology which could allow the independent league to experiment with robo-umpires calling balls and strikes will be installed at Atlantic League ballparks.

"We are excited to announce this new partnership with the Atlantic League", said Morgan Sword, MLB's Senior Vice President, League Economics & Operations.

The move will see Sportradar monitor and analyse every MLB game through its fraud detection system and provide the professional sports league with educational components.

As for the type of rule changes Major League Baseball will test, the provisions are reportedly wide in scope.

There are drawbacks, of course. Given how much pushback the league has received from the players regarding a pitch clock, this could lead to even bigger arguments between the players and the league, especially considering the rumored rule changes for the Atlantic League are far more extreme. During those games, a former Major League Baseball outfielder voiced the calls made by the robot.
