Pakistan says ‘progress’ made at Taliban-US talks in Qatar

Maas' visit comes as the Pakistani army reported that two people were killed Tuesday in the disputed Kashmir region in an exchange of gunfire between Pakistani and Indian border forces. He appreciated Prime Minister Khan's responsible handling of the situation, particularly the decision of releasing Indian pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman. He also underscored Pakistan's key role towards achieving a peaceful settlement in Afghanistan. Pakistan's relations with the US are set to take a new turn due to Islamabad's behind-the-scenes role in facilitating the US-Taliban peace talks to end the 17-year-old brutal war in Afghanistan, according to foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

About the recent tensions with India, Qureshi said Pakistan wanted peace in the region but will not "compromise" on Kashmir. The ongoing peace process in Afghanistan also came under discussion.

"Dialogue is the only way forward".

The plan of action was agreed upon to provide technical and professional education to workforce in Pakistan so that they can get maximum quota in 2020 manpower import plan of Germany. The need to increase cooperation on federal and provincial level was emphasized during the meeting.
