New Zealand PM says gun laws to change after mosque attack

Australian Man Appears In Court On Murder Charge After Christchurch Attack

Her father Waseem, 33, is said to be in a stable condition.

Ardern is one out of the box, a leader for her times, ideally suited to guide her country through this catastrophe.

As Christchurch's Muslim community reels from a devastating attack, city officials ordered digging of graves for the victims of the deadliest mass shooting in the country's modern history.

No one party has a mortgage on the latter, but - with Pauline Hanson as a notable exception - female politicians seem to best display the latter qualities.

The terrorist who led an attack in which 50 people were gunned down in two mosques is believed to have travelled to Britain on a two-month tour of Europe which galvinised his extremism, the Telegraph can reveal.

"I felt anger because I knew it would create a negative tidal wave towards people like me, it creates panic".

Church services for the victims were held, including at Christchurch's "Cardboard Cathedral", a temporary structure built after a 2011 quake.

Wearing a black scarf, Ardern hugged members of the Muslim community at a refugee center on Saturday, saying she would ensure freedom of religion. "More importantly it was also about standing in solidarity in a small way to offer their love and support to the people of Christchurch". "The reasons of their deaths are known ... why not release those who have been identified", he said.

Indonesian-born aeronautical engineer Lilik Abdul Hamid and a refugee from Afghanistan, Daoud Nabi, were among the victims.

Pakistan's high commissioner said six citizens had been killed and three were missing.

Ms Ardern confirmed her office was one of about 30 that had been sent the manifesto nine minutes before last Friday's massacre, but it did not contain details of where the attacks would take place.

Errol Spence Jr v Mikey Garcia
Garcia (39-1, 30 KOs) never stopped trying to turn the tide against the Texan, but Spence was virtually ideal for 12 rounds. Garcia grew up around Oxnard, California, where the Cowboys hold part of their preseason training camp each year.

Meates said at a news conference at the Christchurch hospital that it's "hard to fathom the enormity of this act of terrorism".

"It is clear that this can now only be described as a terrorist attack", said Ardern.

Facebook said it had removed 1.5 million videos of the attack from the social media platform within 24 hours of the incident.

"Lilik has been a valued part of our engineering team in Christchurch for 16 years, but he first got to know the team even earlier when he worked with our aircraft engineers in a previous role overseas", Air New Zealand Chief Executive Christopher Luxon said in a statement.

His relatives in the Australian town of Grafton, in New South Wales, contacted police after learning of the shooting and were helping with the investigation, local authorities said. I had a regular childhood, without any great issues.

New Zealand has tried to tighten laws before but a strong gun lobby and culture of hunting has stymied efforts.

Ardern has vowed to change the country's gun laws and to uncover how a self-avowed extremist legally purchased two semi-automatic weapons, reportedly AR-15s, two shotguns and a lever-action gun without drawing the attention of the authorities.

He also reached out to the Muslim community in Christchurch and in New Zealand.

Neighboring Australia has virtually banned semi-automatic rifles from private ownership since a lone gunman killed 35 people with assault rifles in 1996.

"We can not be deterred from the work that we need to do on our gun laws", Ardern said.
