Another witness told TVNZ that he heard two shots then he ran out the door. I think they want to go back home as soon as possible. I'm speaking from experience, I'm speaking from what I've heard.

It is understood that the team was on a bus after it had gone to the mosque situated near Hagley Oval where Bangladesh and New Zealand were scheduled to play a One Day International on Saturday. "I ran behind the mosque", he said.

A spokeswoman did not know how many patients were expected, adding it was an "evolving situation". I just got on someone's auto and just we went near that place and it was very traumatic.

He told CNN that he saw several bodies lying on the ground in the mosque after the shooting had begun.

"And seeing that, they didn't get off the bus".

After being barred from getting off the bus for several minutes, the players escaped and are now "locked down" in their dressing room, per ESPNCricinfo.

Mario Villavarayen, strength and conditioning coach of the Bangladesh cricket team was quoted by the New Zealand Herald as saying that the team was close to where the shooting occurred, but was safe.

"They were devastated and terrified and I saw guys who were from the mosque covered in blood sitting in ambulances". They didn't see anything but heard gunshots.

It is not yet known whether the third test will take place. Liton Das and Nayeem Hasan were also back in the hotel and have been contacted, and told to stay back at the hotel.
