The games away to Gibraltar on March 23rd and at home to Georgia on March 26th will be the first of McCarthy's second spell in charge of Ireland.

The former Ipswich boss made his return to the Republic of Ireland's managerial hot seat in November, after guiding Ireland to the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea.

Travers, Amond (scorer of 21 goals in all competitions this season) and Collins have all previously represented the Republic at underage level.

Amond told iFollow Exiles: "I'm so delighted to have received my first call-up". McCarthy may then draft them back into his squad for the game against Georgia.

Paul George returns, to start for Thunder vs. Timberwolves
Oklahoma City Thunder star Russell Westbrook has a track record of wearing his emotions on his sleeve both on and off the court. Andrew Wiggins is averaging 35 points in two games against OKC this season, both narrow road victoriess.

Keiren Westwood, Stephen Ward, Aiden McGeady, James McCarthy, Glenn Whelan and David McGoldrick have all earned recalls to the squad.

Injury has ruled out Newcastle United's Ciaran Clark, Preston North End's Callum Robinson, Burnley's Jonathan Walters and Southampton's Michael Obafemi.

The squad will be finalised on March 17, with the retained players undergoing their first training session the following day.

"That is not an excuse for why James did not start in the last two or three months when he started to come into the conditions to play and work hard like the others".
