Shamima Begum: 'Unconfirmed reports' baby son dead

'Strong reports' IS teen bride's baby has died

The announcement contradicted an official spokesman for the Kurdish-led forces, who earlier claimed reports of the child's death was "fake" news.

Begum left London with her two school friends in 2015 to join the so-called Islamic State in Syria, where she has lived with her husband, a Dutch IS fighter, for the last few years.

There are unconfirmed reports that the baby son of Shalimar Begum - the teenager who fled London to join the Islamic State group - has died, her family's lawyer has said.

"The baby was completely innocent throughout all this", Akunjee told HuffPost UK.

In a letter responding to Renu Begum, the Home Office said it was a matter for the Foreign Office and she would have to confirm she was authorised to make a request for consular assistance on her behalf.

Since December at least 100 people have died en route to the camp or shortly after arriving, mostly children under five, the IRC said.

Before she gave birth, Begum said she wished to bring up her baby in the United Kingdom, and her family have begged for her to be shown mercy and to be allowed to return to east London.

Disney+ streaming service to include entire Disney vault
If you've never heard of this vault, you're probably imagining an actual magical vault, guarded by trolls and warlocks. However, some people have raised an eyebrow on whether every film will from the Vault will *actually* be available.

"I don't really want to stay here, I don't want to take care of my child in this camp because I'm afraid he might even die in this camp", she said in an interview with United Kingdom broadcaster Sky News shortly after giving birth.

Kadiza Sultana was reported to have died in an air strike on Raqqa in May 2016.

Begum, now 19, told journalists that she wanted to raise her son in Britain, but the government revoked her citizenship.

Asked if she had anything to say to British politicians, she said: "I would like them to re-evaluate my case with a bit more mercy in their heart, you know".

The lawyer, Mohammed Akunjee, on Twitter said the family has received unconfirmed reports from within her refugee camp in the Middle East that her baby named Jerah has died.

"We further understand that indeed she and her child had been threatened by others at the Al-Hol camp". Javid also confirmed that Begum's son was a British citizen, though he said it would be "incredibly difficult" to facilitate the return of a child from Syria.

"I have nothing but sympathy for the children that have been dragged into this".
