Head, 72, founded the team with Frank Williams in 1977 and played a key role in spearheading its auto design department.

On Friday, Williams announced Sir Patrick Head will make his return to Williams in a technical consultancy role. During his time - which also included a spell as technical director - the Briton oversaw seven drivers' championships and nine constructors' titles, with the last of both of those coming in 1997.

Head stepped away from an active role with the team in 2011.

Head remains a shareholder within the team but hasn't partaking with the team since his departure.

These dust puffs were caused, ultimately, by Gault's superfast spin rate, which the researchers nailed down in the new study. When sunlight heats an asteroid, infrared radiation escaping from its warmed surface carries off momentum as well as heat.

Recent times have been less kind to the Grove team and after finishing bottom past year it looks set for another hard campaign having missed the start of preseason.

His decades of experience will allow him to take an overview of the current state of the struggling team that arrived late to pre-season testing and then discovered a "fundamental" problem with its FW42 that has helped place it firmly at the back of the grid.

Head's return may only be short-term, but offers stability within the team in what has been a challenging start to the year for one of the sport's most historical teams.

Williams has brought co-founder Sir Patrick Head back to the team in a consultancy capacity after its disappointing start to the 2019 Formula 1 season.
