The Reds boss was forced to play down claims of a fall-out after the pair did not shake hands - a misunderstanding according to Klopp - when the England midfielder was substituted in last Sunday's 0-0 draw at Manchester United.

With Manchester City in such good form, Jurgen Klopp's side knew they need a win against Watford on Wednesday to preserve their slim lead.

Liverpool will set a new club record if they avoid defeat against Everton in Sunday's Merseyside derby.

The Liverpool manager was asked about the derby and how his players would relish playing at an expectedly volatile Goodison Park.

Last weekend, Klopp described the tie as like a "World Cup final" for Everton.

A season which began amid much optimism after another summer of spending quickly turned sour for Everton but there remains one hope for their fans - that they can fire the shot which helps bring down their arch rivals' title charge.

Klopp ran on the pitch and jumped into keeper Alisson's arms when Divock Origi scored a stoppage-time victor in December's clash at Anfield.

Speaking at today's pre-match press conference, Klopp said: "He was out there in the running yesterday but we have to see how he reacts". You'll hear the fact that the meetings of these two teams have produced more red cards than any other Premier League fixture over the years plenty prior to kick off, but there has been none in the last six derbies.

But he committed a turnover and missed a jumper as the Spartans (23-6, 14-4) pushed for the go-ahead basket in the final stretch. Morgan then converted the three-point play to give the Hoosiers their first lead since the game's opening bucket.

"What I felt was a special match for both teams".

But Espanyol last tasted victory over Barcelona as recently as January 2018, when they were victorious in a Copa del Rey fixture, while Torino can point to a 2-1 Serie A win against Juve in April 2014. They celebrated more or less the same.

And though he's one of the first names on Jurgen Klopp's teamsheet, the 24-year-old Scotland captain won't forget the impact made by Silva when they worked together at Hull in 2017.

Silva then went on to say it will be "very good" if they perform like they did in the first Merseyside derby of the season.

"Of course, the fans of Everton don't want us to win anything and probably for our fans it's the same the other way.

In that match we deserved something more".

"If I can sign now to perform in the same way, I will sign straight [away] because that means we will be really close to winning the match. We all understand it 100 per cent".

"I am not sure if it is possible to be more motivated than they were and we were that day!"
