Isaiah Thomas made his long-awaited return to TD Garden on Monday night as the Nuggets took on the Celtics, marking the first time that the point guard has suited up as a visitor in Boston since leaving the Celtics.

Unwilling to shell out a big extension for the injured Thomas with free agency looming, the Celtics shipped him off to Cleveland in August 2017 as part of a package to land perennial All-Star Kyrie Irving. "This feels like home, so it's always good to be in the city of Boston and to be in TD Garden".

Thomas continued to return to the "real love" he experiences in Boston in his pre-game comments.

He tweeted Sunday about hitting up an open gym after his team arrived to the city, and Terry Rozier, who was Thomas' teammate for two seasons and is celebrating his 25th birthday Sunday, invited him to the team's practice gym for some 1-on-1. "I've said it since I've been here".

And Thomas does not let that love go unnoticed either. That love is genuine. "So I don't take anything for granted". He revealed to reporters that he planned on wearing those kicks in the NBA Finals his past year in Boston but eventually loss to the Cavaliers led by one LeBron James.

Paris Jackson Lashes out at Paparazzi for Misleading Photos Days After Hospitalization
Jackson appeared to be in good spirits as she smiled and posed with her arm around The Soundflowers bandmate's shoulder. HOLA! USA learned that Paris did have an incident Saturday morning that required medical treatment .

It was the first time Thomas, who is averaging 7.7 points and shooting 36.4 percent from the floor (including 26.5 percent from 3-point range) had appeared in a game since being removed from Denver's rotation prior to their game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on March 12 by Nuggets coach Mike Malone, who had chose to shorten his rotation ahead of the playoffs.

"Very tough decision", Malone said. I put my heart and soul on that floor each and every night. "Whatever they need me to do, I'm just here to help. Anything they show me tonight would be much appreciated". "I know this game is, I believe, the first game he'll be back here with a chance to play since he left, and that's not lost on me".

"If I don't, I understand", Thomas added. "If I do, I'll be more than ready". Then he was traded before his second visit from the Cavaliers to the Los Angeles Lakers, who weren't scheduled to play the Celtics again. I mean, I never hold no grudge against anybody. No matter what came at me, I was just trying to play hard for this city and this organization.

Thomas' postseason was done just seven games after that, sidelined by a lingering hip injury that would not only end his tenure with the Celtics but diminish his career to such a degree that he's on his third team since.

All the hubbub surrounding the day ended up being somewhat of a moot point, however, as Thomas was no longer a member of the Cavaliers by the time the game rolled around. Those were the best times of my career.
