Israeli gunfire kills 15-year-old Palestinian, Gaza Health Ministry says

On Monday, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh said that in November Israel and Hamas reached understandings whereby Israel would extend Gaza's fishing zone, increase the territory's electricity supply and allow Qatari cash into Gaza for its public servants in exchange for calm on the border.

"We hold Hamas accountable", the IDF said. But, he claimed, Israel breached the deal by staging an undercover raid in Gaza, which he said undermined understandings on broader issues "as if they never existed".

The night skirmishes are complementary to the weekly daytime protests that Gaza's Hamas rulers have staged for a year.

The report commissioned by the council found Israeli soldiers intentionally fired on civilians and could have committed crimes against humanity in crackdowns that killed 189 people and left 6,000 hurt by sniper fire. The Israeli soldiers typically respond with tear gas and, in some cases, live fire. Over the last week, young Palestinians have gathered by the Israeli border as part of the Great March of Return protest.
