It comes after three explosive device were discovered at Heathrow, London City Airport and Waterloo station.

Police were called to each of the sites between about 10am and midday after packages were found.

Scotland Yard said: "These devices, at this early stage of the investigation, appear capable of igniting an initially small fire when opened". The package at the rail station was not opened.

The item sent to the Compass Centre, close to Heathrow's north runway, was opened by staff resulting in "part of the package burning", although there were no injuries and flights were not affected, according to police.

Police said the building remains closed as enquiries continuehttps://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/news/crime/grieving-mother-must-wait-to-see-her-son-s-killer-sentenced-after-crash-in-leeds-1-9631650.

The first package caught fire when it was opened by staff at Heathrow's Compass Centre at about 09:55 GMT.

Officials say train services to City Airport were suspended temporarily and the building where the package was found, City Aviation House, was evacuated.

Throwing cheese at babies is the new viral internet trend
For some reason, it took off and within hours people were copying him and the so-called "cheese challenge" was born. Most users found the challenge hilarious, following suit and praising the boy's alleged "uncle" in the comments.

Staff also left London City Airport's headquarters, but were able to return after the package there was intercepted.

"Specialist officers attended and made safe the device. The building has been reopened", the statement said. Flights were not affected.

Security chiefs suspect the packages - sent from Dublin with An Post stamps - were meant to cause "mayhem" ahead of Brexit and the possibility of a hard Irish border, according to The Mirror.

The other picture showed a jiffy bag addressed to Waterloo, with its sender's address appearing to be Bus Eireann, Dublin.

'The police are treating this as a criminal act and we will be assisting with this investigation'. The stamps on the envelope have pictures of hearts and resemble ones issued by Ireland's post office for Valentine's Day 2018.

No person or group claimed responsibility for sending the devices and police said they haven't made any arrests.

Bus Éireann said British police had not been in contact, with a spokeswoman saying: "Bus Éireann are now not aware of this and we have no further comment".
