Who their first opponents are hinges on Brighton's FA Cup campaign.

Should the club be granted its safety certificates after these games, their first home game could be the league game against Brighton which is now scheduled for April 7.

Tottenham's preference for their opening match at the new stadium was always to avoid a midweek date.

The former Southampton coach had hinted at his frustration at his sanction before it was announced in midweek, revealing after the Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund that he was "very disappointed" with the "football people in our country".

The Argentine confronted referee Mike Dean after his team's 2-1 Premier League defeat at Burnley last month that led to Spurs losing ground to Manchester City and Liverpool in the Premier League title race.

Spurs had been scheduled to move to the new stadium - built on the site of the old White Hart Lane - at the start of the season but construction has been delayed. The following has been agreed with the Premier League, Brighton and Crystal Palace to ensure that our first game is a Premier League match prior to a Uefa Champions League quarter-final match.

Tottenham say they will play either Brighton or Crystal Palace in their first match in their new stadium in April.

The first game will see Spurs' Under-18s take on Southampton at 3pm on Sunday 24 March, with a capacity of around 30,000.

The stadium was originally due to open ahead of the 2018-19 Premier League season, but the project has been hit with delays and Spurs have continued to play their home matches in all competitions at Wembley Stadium.
