Texas grandmother rescued after posing on 'iceberg throne’ that drifted out to sea during Iceland vacation

A woman on holiday in Iceland had to be rescued after the ice she was sitting on began to drift away.

Judith Streng and her son Rob were traveling in Iceland recently when they stopped at Diamond Beach in Jökulsárlón for a great photo op on what looked like a throne straight out of Disney's "Frozen".

A 77-year-old grandmother lived out her dreams of royalty when she climbed atop a throne-shaped iceberg during a recent trip to Iceland. Then: "It started to totter", Streng tells ABC News.

Streng said a second large wave came and "made the throne kind of rock, and I could tell that I was slipping off".

Her granddaughter, Catherine, received a hilarious series of photos chronicling the ordeal from her dad, and posted them on Twitter Monday.

Thankfully a boat captain, Randy Lacount, was allegedly close by and was able to bring her back to shore before the story turned tragic.

"Lost her kingdom when she drifted out to see!", reads the photo caption. "I thought that looks like fun", Streng said in an interview on Good Morning America of the moment she chose to pose.

It has been reported that Peter was arrested in Miami, FL at the Miami global airport upon his flight landing. Cynthia finalized her divorce from entrepreneur/restaurateur Peter in 2017, but they still keep in touch.

That is, until a sudden wave dislodged the icy throne - setting grandmother adrift.

"You know I always wanted to be queen".

"He waded out into the roiling water and pulled her off the iceberg as it drifted out to sea", Ms Streng said.

This could have turned into a concerning accident but we're glad she is all safe.

"Being so popular is wild", the grandmother added.
