Trump claims Michael Cohen asked him 'directly' for pardon

Because Cohen didn't ask Trump for a pardon directly, Cohen was truthful when he told the House oversight committee last week that he "never asked for" one from the president, Davis said. His lawyers totally contradicted him.

"Now they got to do something else because they put all their eggs in the Michael Cohen basket and he came in here and lied again", Jordan said.

"I have never asked for, nor would I accept, a pardon from Mr. Trump", he stated.

In those roles, he says, he made hush payment arrangements ahead of the 2016 election for two women who allegedly had affairs with Trump. Cohen acknowledged in his guilty plea a year ago that he misled lawmakers by saying he had abandoned the project in January 2016 when he actually continued pursuing it for months after that as Trump campaigned for the presidency.

Cohen is set to report to prison in May for three years stemming from charges that include campaign-finance violations related to those payments. Cohen has already lost everything due to his relationship to the president and is going to jail with or without a testimony.

BIGBANG's Seungri offers to retire amid snowballing allegations
The 31-year-old was sentenced to a 10-month suspended jail sentence after publicly apologizing and expressing remorse. Unfortunately for him, that all had to be scrapped once he became the prime suspect in the Burning Sun investigation.

Lanny Davis, a lawyer for Cohen, later said that before July, Cohen directed an attorney to explore possibilities of a pardon with Trump's lawyers. He may also try to depose senior executives of the Trump Organization, including the president himself. Investigators have examined key episodes such as Trump's firing of FBI Director James Comey and Trump's fury over Attorney General Jeff Sessions' recusal. The company reaffirmed its commitment that December after Cohen complained to Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump about the delays, and it continued to pay through May 2018 - reimbursing more than US$1.7 million through direct payments, funding from Trump's campaign and credits from McDermott, according to the lawsuit.

Davis said the pardon was "dangled" by Team Trump and that Cohen's statement to the committee was truthful.

"His [Cohen's] lawyer said that they went to my lawyers and asked for pardons", Trump said. The results were heavily skewed on party lines, with most Republicans believing Trump and most Democrats trusting Cohen.

"By failing to pay Mr. Cohen's attorneys' fees and costs and other amounts incurred in connection with the matters, the Trump Organization has breached the indemnification agreement", the filing states.

The Trump Organisation did not immediately respond to requests for comment. "Will you? Under oath to Mueller or Congress?" he tweeted, referring to special counsel Robert Mueller, who is investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election and possible co-ordination with the Trump campaign.
