Trump Says Cohen Asked Him ‘Directly’ for a Pardon

"Bad lawyer and fraudster Michael Cohen said under sworn testimony that he never asked for a Pardon", Trump said in a tweet.

"This is a desperate money-grab by a desperate convicted felon", Marc Mukasey, a lawyer representing the Trump Organization, said in a statement.

'After July 2, 2018, Mr. Cohen authorized me as a new lawyer to say publicly Mr. Cohen would never accept a pardon from President Trump even if offered.

Cohen was Trump's longtime personal lawyer and fixer.

"The Trump Organization agreed to indemnify Mr. Cohen and to pay attorneys' fees and costs incurred by Mr. Cohen in connection with various matters arising from Mr. Cohen's work with and on behalf of the organization", according to the complaint in state court in Manhattan.

Mr. Cohen testified that Mr. Trump never ordered him to lie when they met and just repeated his talking points on no-Russia-collusion.

Earlier this year, Cohen hired two new Chicago lawyers and parted ways with the attorneys who represented him for months as he cooperated with Mueller and prosecutors in the Southern District of NY. But the evidence so far shows that a broad range of Trump associates had Russia-related contacts during the 2016 presidential campaign and transition period, and several lied about the communications. He said Cohen "directed his attorney" to explore a pardon. "He ended up lying and he has regretted it and he's going to jail for it, and he said to the court in his heartfelt way - I take ownership and I don't blame anybody but myself".

Rudolph Giuliani, an adviser to Mr Trump and former New York City mayor, suggested in an interview that Cohen was owed nothing.

Julianne Moore Says She Was Fired From 'Can You Ever Forgive Me?'
This is surprising, because up until now, the official story was that Moore walked away of her own accord. Now, Moore has revealed she didn't deliberately walk away - she was sacked by Holofcener.

And the Washington Post's fact checkers have counted almost 9,000 false or misleading Trump statements just since he took office.

Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump's former lawyer, departs following a full day of testimony with the House Intelligence Committee behind closed doors as he prepares for a three-year prison sentence for lying to Congress and other charges, at the Capitol in Washington, Wednesday, March 6, 2019.

Cohen this week completed meetings with congressional investigators looking into Mr Trump's activities.

The Trump Organization didn't immediately respond to messages seeking comment, and Cohen's attorneys declined to comment on the suit. "He's hiding behind having his lawyers do it", Giuliani said.

The company is allegedly reneging on a payment deal after Cohen cooperated with investigations into its business. Earlier Friday, speaking to reporters on the White House lawn, he said that Cohen had told a "stone cold lie" when he testified that he did not seek presidential intervention. Cohen told a House committee last week that he had briefed Trump Jr. approximately 10 times about the plan. During last week's public testimony, he called Trump a con man, a cheat and a racist.

Cohen said he has employed at least seven law firms in the a year ago on matters related to Trump.

Ryan left the impression in separate discussions with Trump Organization attorneys Alan Futerfas and Alan Garten that promise of a pardon would keep Cohen from cooperating with New York-based federal prosecutors.
