Dozens of passengers on a flight bound for John F. Kennedy International Airport were injured during a severe bout of turbulence Saturday evening, officials tell CBS2.

Four people were taken to a local hospital upon the flight's landing, officials said. Most passengers suffered bumps and bruises but a few people were sent to a hospital, authorities said, noting that at least one person had a broken leg.

Most of the passengers were treated inside an airport terminal.

Almost 30 people are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries after their flight was hit with strong turbulence prior to landing in NY.
