United Kingdom prime minister ready to quit to fully deliver Brexit

The British government said it meant to bring back Prime Minister Theresa May's Brexit deal for a third vote in parliament on Friday to avoid a chaotic no-deal divorce from the EU.

The PM's deal includes a withdrawal agreement - setting out how much money the UK must pay to the EU as a settlement, details of the transition period, and the backstop arrangements - and a political declaration on the way the future EU-UK relationship will work. If supported by a majority in parliament Britain's departure from the bloc will be pushed back until May 22.

Brexit is now under a postponement negotiated with the European Union that would see the country exit the continental federation on May 22 if Parliament accepts May's deal or April 12 if it does not.

The two documents together have been rejected twice already by parliament. A series of messages from European leaders indicated growing concern that Britain could be forced out without a safety net if the wrangling is not resolved. The current situation is nearly unprecedented: Britain has a minority government and a lame-duck prime minister, with both main parties split down the middle over how and whether to leave the EU.

Theresa May has offered to quit to save her deal and MPs failed in their own bid to break the deadlock.

It seems that support from other parties will be crucial for May if she is to get her deal through. On Wednesday night, May will address the 1922 Committee - her Tory backbenchers. Nevertheless, traditional business models are no longer sustainable and high-quality publications, like ours, are being forced to look for new ways to keep going.

Any deal between 's government and leaders must be approved by the, the 's elected legislature.

May's sacrifice swayed some of her critics, including former foreign minister Boris Johnson, but more than a dozen Conservative MPs still publicly oppose her deal.

Brexit chaos continued in the country as MPs fail to find a majority for an alternative to May's Brexit deal.

Another motion which was seeking a "standstill" agreement with the European Union while negotiating a trade deal if no withdrawal agreement was agreed on also saw a heavy defeat in a 139 to 422 vote. The EU's chief executive Jean-Claude Juncker said Britain's intentions had become more mysterious than those of the mythological sphinxes guarding ancient tombs.

According to Section 13 of the EU Withdrawal Act, the government can not ratify any deal until Parliament has approved it.

That leaves Britain trapped - paralyzed by a deadlocked House of Commons, itself a reflection of a country split down the middle over staying a member of the European Union or quitting. By contrast, this was only the fifth most popular option among MPs in Wednesday's "indicative votes" on Brexit options, with a total of 184 votes for and 293 against.

British Prime Minister has arrived in France for Brexit late talks with chief on the eve before the British Parliament votes again on a divorce agreement.
