The move left Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson livid. Emanuel asked. "You can not have, because of a person's position, one set of rules apply to them and another set of rules apply to everybody else". The Empire writers' Twitter page reacted with support for the actor/singer after Cook County prosecutors announced they would not be pursuing the filing a false police report case. Only the police chief, mayor and even prosecutor's office then proceeded to say they still believe Smollett was guilty, even as the actor has been decrying his complete and total exoneration, a comparison to Trump's reaction to the Mueller Report summary that did not get by Colbert. The actor told police he was assaulted by two masked individuals, who hurled racist and homophobic insults at him.

The sudden about-face came just weeks after Smollett was charged with 16 counts of disorderly conduct for allegedly lying about how he was attacked by a pair of men who he said called him homophobic and racial slurs, wrapped a noose around his neck, and poured a chemical substance on him.

However Chicago police alleged that the U.S. star paid two black brothers $3,500 to stage the attack so he could get a higher salary on Empire.

Nonetheless, Chicago's mayor and police department still clearly believe that Smollett orchestrated the hoax in question. Although he told police that they had physically assaulted him, yelled offensive phrases, and tied a noose around his neck, the Chciago Police Department found inconsistencies, and Smollett was arrested on February 21.

Kathy Griffin made a pitch to Empire creator Lee Daniels to "let Jussie return, but have his character confront a new character who did what he allegedly did". While there has been progress in reducing violent crime, Chicago still has more murders than the larger cities of NY and Los Angeles.

"The two men who attacked him have indicated that they attacked him, so we already know who attacked him", Holmes said. Speaking with TIME, Devine said that State Attorney Kimberly Foxx - who recused herself from the case - should explain to the public why the prosecution will not move forward. His voice rising in anger at times, Emanuel called the deal "a whitewash of justice" and lashed out at Smollett.

"There is no accountability then in the system. It is wrong, full stop".

Arsenal boss Unai Emery gives brutally honest assessment of top four hopes
Arsenal are now occupying fifth place in the Premier League after Manchester United moved into the last Champions League spot on Saturday.

He agreed to forfeit the $10,000 bond and performed a total of 16 hours of volunteer service Saturday and Monday for the Rainbow Push Coalition, which was founded by the Rev. Jesse Jackson.

"The city saw its reputation dragged through the mud", Emanuel added.

Ms Schmidt said: "The Osundairo brothers were fully prepared to testify in any criminal proceeding in the Jussie Smollett case". "The reputation of the city has taken a tremendous blow", he said.

No matter, the prosecutor, Jor Magats, threw in the towel, likely afraid to upset two key parts of the Democratic coalition - black Americans and homosexuals.

Within days, police said the brothers were considered suspects in the attack.
