Verstappen says 'positively surprised' in Honda engine test

Red Bull boss Christian Horner says Honda power units will give Max Verstappen and Pierre Gasly every chance of success this season.

Verstappen, who finished fourth in the drivers' standings a year ago, also said the auto was reliable and communications with Honda engineers went smoothly during the test.

Ricciardo, who has recently arrived at Renault from Red Bull Racing, will partner Nico Hulkenberg for the upcoming season, and he "expects good things" from the French team this season.

The merry go round of drivers means that Verstappen now has number 1 status within the team.

However, according to Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko, the young Dutchman still has room to improve, especially since it was his behavior on the track at the start of past year that eventually cost him a place in the top three of the driver's standings.

Toronto (48-20) trails Milwaukee by 2 1/2 games for the best record in the league. Both players were ejected shortly after the altercation.

And when Horner was asked whether he would swap his young prodigy for the sport's current most successful driver his answer was emphatic.

"Max is the future", Horner told the Daily Mail.

"He is 21 years of age and he is evolving. We had a good winter test, I'm growing happier every time I step into the auto and the first race will be especially exciting". "Max has won grands prix but is yet to compete for a championship". Both left proven race-winning teams for what were considered at the time to be less fashionable outfits.

"The first race of the year, the Australian Grand Prix, is a high point of the season, but even more so this year as Daniel Ricciardo makes his race debut for the team", said Abiteboul.

He added: "Max was top scorer behind Hamilton in the second half of last season, so that shows how well he was driving". At least there was passion.
