"Katherine Helmond has passed away", wrote the actress, 46.

Katherine Helmond, the Tony-winning actress who appeared on "Who's the Boss?" and "Soap", died at age 89, it was reported. She also starred as Jessica Tate on ABC's daytime-serial spoof Soap, Doris Sherman on the network's Coach, and Lois Whelan, the mother of Patricia Heaton's character on Everybody Loves Raymond. She voiced Lizzie in all three of the Disney/Pixar Cars films. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Helmond bought a theater in upstate NY to perform her own plays, going on to spend seven years with the Hartford Stage Company in CT and the Trinity Repertory Theater in Providence, Rhode Island.

Helmond's "Who's the Boss" co-stars, Alyssa Milano and Tony Danza, tweeted about her passing.

Katherine Marie Holmond was born in Galveston, Texas on July 5, 1929 to Thelma and Joseph P. Helmond. You taught me to hold my head above the marsh!

In addition to Who's the Boss?

A memorial for family and friends is now being planned for the near future, her agency said. You taught me to do anything for a laugh! Her acting debut in the 1950s was onstage in "As You Like It", and she had other notable Broadway roles in "Private Lives" and "Don Juan".

During her five-decade career, Helmond was nominated for multiple Emmy Awards and won two Golden Globes for the two roles for which she was best known.

Helmond on her love for her craft: "I felt I blossomed as a person when I got a chance to act. You will grow automatically as an actor if you do the best work you can, and take each part as the best one you're ever going to get". "We spent 57 handsome, wonderful, loving years together, which I will treasure forever". What an example you were! We offer our condolences to her friends and family in their time of grief.
