A transgender woman was violently attacked in a"mob assault at the Royal Crest Apartments in Dallas on Friday

(Google Maps) A transgender woman was attacked in a "mob" assault outside the Royal Crest Apartments in Dallas on Friday, April 12, 2019, police said. The other driver said he ran her off the road to keep her from leaving the scene, according to an affidavit of arrest obtained by the Dallas Morning News. Then, someone offered Thomas $200 to beat Booker, according to the affidavit. A man in a white shirt starts to hit the 23-year-old woman in the face and she falls to the ground.

Booker, who said she was called homophobic slurs during the incident, was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for her injuries, which include a facial fracture.

"The person got out of the vehicle and then they started talking to their friends, and their friends started coming up and everybody started kicking and hitting Mulhaysia", Booker added.

Police have made an arrest in the brutal beating Friday of a transgender woman that's being classified as a hate crime.

In a statement posted to Facebook, Mayor Mike Rawlings of Dallas, says his office is working closely with the police to find the people responsible.

Family members say the victim has a broken wrist, a swollen face, and she's in a lot of pain, but is home from the hospital recovering. After about a minute, a group of women help the woman up and carry her away.

Booker's father, Peirre Booker, told CBS Dallas the attackers were "cowards" and his daughter "is traumatized from it".

Global measles cases 'up 300% year-on-year'
If the current trend continues, the record of 667 cases set in 2014 will be eclipsed well before the end of this year. Most of the cases have been in NY , site of an outbreak among ultra-Orthodox Jews that started in the fall.

"You could just feel the energy and the malevolence of this crowd escalate as the violence ensued and there was no voice standing up saying stop", McMurray, who wasn't present during the attack, told WFAA. "We will not stand for this kind of behaviour".

Thomas' bond amount has not yet been set.

On Friday, video of the attack went viral.

The video is available at the link, but please be advised that it is of graphic nature.

So far, no suspects have been arrested, but police are still canvassing the area and talking to witnesses. "Our prayers are with the victim, and we will continue to work with law enforcement to prevent violence in our nearby communities".

Last November, the Federal Bureau of Investigation reported that 7,175 hate crimes were committed in the United States in 2017, the most recent year for which the agency had compiled data. Of those 106 victims were transgender.
