AMD's Ryzen mobile processors follow in the wake of the desktop-class processors (CPUs), with commercial-grade Ryzen Pro mobile processors following.

AMD boasts long battery life on the new processors, with up to 12 hours of general office use and 10 hours of video playback.

The first computers to include the 2nd Gen Ryzen Pro and Athlon Pro processors are expected from HP and Lenovo this quarter, with more OEMs expected this year. In other words, they are octa-core parts without SMT (Simultaneous Multi-Threading), which is the AMD equivalent of Intel's Hyper-threading. Move to the Ryzen 5 and you'll get a higher 3.7GHz boost speed and an 8-core GPU, while the Ryzen 7 ramps up to a 2.3GHz base speed, a 4GHz boost speed and a 10-core GPU. It features two cores, support for up to four processing threads, and on-chip Radeon Vega 3 graphics silicon.

The lineup starts with the AMD Athlon Pro 300U, which will likely be packed inside lower-tier laptops.
