"Saturday Night Live" also took aim at the actor in a segment Saturday in which TV network executives fire Smollett after he twice tells outlandish stories of being attacked.

Smollett was cleared of 16 charges of felony disorderly conduct last week. Rock continued. "You're "Jessie" from now on".

In light of the development, FOX Entertainment and 20th Century Fox Television, which jointly produce Empire, said in a statement, "Jussie Smollett has always maintained his innocence and we are gratified that all charges against him have been dismissed". "I would not be my mother's son if I was capable of one drop of what I've been accused of".

Redd's Smollett soon returns with a neck brace, claiming the group will never "believe what happened to me this time!"
