Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed, who played his last 50-over match for Bangladesh in October 2017, has been added to the ODI squad for the upcoming tri-nation series against hosts Ireland and West Indies. The squad for the series was announced with the World Cup team and featured 17 players including Nayeem Hasan and Yasir Ali Rabbi as stand-bys.

Earlier, the selectors didn't include Taskin and Farhad neither in the tri-series nor in the World Cup. The 25-year-old was adviced a three-week rest and later made a comeback in the recent Dhaka Premier League (DPL).

Taskin's selection didn't come as much of a surprise, given that he was among the standby players for the World Cup - there are injury concerns around senior pacemen Rubel Hossain and Mustafizur Rahman.

'As our coach has some plans and we have chose to send two more players in Ireland series.

Taskin has been recovering from an ankle injury he sustained during a Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) game.

Farhad, who last played a one-day global in 2014, did well in the recent Dhaka Premier League where he claimed 38 in 16 matches.

'We have already named the World Cup squad. So apart from injury, I don't see any chance of them joining the team, ' he said.

The World Cup will be held in United Kingdom from May 30 to July 14 and Bangladesh will open their campaign against South Africa at the Oval on June 2.

And Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officially confirmed on Sunday that the duo has been officially added to the squad.
