Brexit talks between Labour and Tories will continue on Tuesday

Britain's parliament is expected later Monday to approve a bill to force the government to delay Brexit.

If passed, May will have to bring a motion to parliament on Tuesday, pledging to request an extension in Brussels the following day and outlining the length of the plan for delay.

MPs in the House of Commons.

The Bill was amended by peers to state that nothing in it prevented the Prime Minister from "seeking or agreeing" an extension, provided it was not earlier than May 22.

Mrs May has asked for a new delay until June 30 but, according to reports, Brexit could be delayed by almost a year under plans being considered by European Union officials.

The Commons move came as Brexit talks between the Government and Labour resumed on Monday.

The talks broke down last week, with Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn saying "I'm waiting to see the red lines move".

"Under the new plan, the prime minister would offer to rewrite the government's withdrawal bill to enshrine a customs arrangement in law", the newspaper said.

In spite of witnessing a royal assent on the amendment that prevents a no-deal Brexit, the United Kingdom policymakers are still struggling to have a clear Brexit deal.

Battle rages for Libya's capital, airport bombed
Its elite Saiqa (Lightning) force, numbers some 3,500, while Haftar's sons also have well-equipped troops, LNA sources say. Witnesses said the LNA had lost control of the old airport and withdrawn from positions on the airport road.

"The key issues that we must see real movement on to secure an agreement are a customs union with the EU, alignment with the single market and full dynamic alignment of workers' rights, environmental protections and consumer standards".

The latest round of talks will include Mrs May's de facto deputy, Cabinet Office Minister David Lidington, and Chancellor Philip Hammond from the Government side, with shadow Brexit secretary Sir Keir Starmer and shadow chancellor John McDonnell from Labour.

The discussions are taking place as the Tories launch a selection process for candidates to stand in European Parliament elections next month.

May heads to Berlin and Paris on Tuesday to meet Chancellor Angela Merkel and President Emmanuel Macron and will be phoning other leaders before setting out the case for another delay at Wednesday's European Union summit in Brussels.

He maintained that a "managed no deal" could still give Britain "time to negotiate an FTA and to solve the [border] issues raised in Northern Ireland", but insisted that "to agree to be non-voting members of the European Union, under the surrender proposed by Jeremy Corbyn - it cannot, must not and will not happen".

The Irish commissioner was still hoping the ongoing cross-party talks between Prime Minister Theresa May and Labour opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn could yield a result.

She said May wanted Britain to have an independent trading policy - something hard to reconcile with Labour's demand for membership of a customs union - and that both sides would need to compromise.

Johnson made a U-turn and voted for May's Brexit agreement on 29 March after twice voting against it, following the Prime Minister's pledge that she would resign and let someone else oversee the next stage of negotiations if the deal was passed.

But it is understood that the executive of the backbench 1922 Committee considered this option last week and decided it was not appropriate at this stage. A formal confidence vote can not take place until December.
