The Los Angeles Lakers have been granted permission to discuss the franchise's head-coach opening with Philadelphia 76ers assistant Monty Williams, league sources told ESPN....

While it's fantastic news that Howard is gaining recognition for his efforts as an assistant coach, it would be hard to see him leave South Florida.

Howard of course first gained fame as a member of the Fab Five at the University of MI. He went on to have an incredibly successful playing career in the National Basketball Association, playing for just under two decades.

Shortly after his playing career ended, his coaching career began with the Miami Heat. He has been serving as an assistant coach under Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra since 2013.

‘I Thought He Was Different’
He originally told The Blast , 'How she thinks he's a boyfriend is beyond me, but hey, stranger things have happened with Dina '. Dina Lohan is back on the market. "[She's] very stubborn, headstrong, and it's tough to deal with", he claimed.

Williams is an assistant coach with the Sixers, so his plate is full right now (he and the entire Sixers coaching staff will be putting in long hours after Saturday's loss to the Nets). Even before Walton's departure, former Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue emerged as a frontrunner to take the post.

The one upper hand that Howard has over Lue is that he not only coached James, he also played alongside him in Miami.

While it would be sad to see Howard go, it would be fantastic to watch him continue his impressive career in the National Basketball Association.

After spending the previous two years in the San Antonio Spurs' front office following the death of his wife Ingrid in 2016, Williams got back into coaching as Brett Brown's top assistant with the 76ers.
