Champions League: Allegri confirms Ronaldo's condition ahead of Juventus, Ajax clash

Ronaldo has not played for Juventus since suffering a hamstring injury in Portugal's Euro2020 qualifier against Serbia last month.

The 34-year-old is the all-time top scorer in Europe's elite club competition and nearly single-handedly dragged Juve into the last eight with his treble against Atletico in the last 16 after the Italians trailed 2-0 from the first leg.

"It is another big obstacle to overcome after Bayern and Real".

With four English clubs in the quarter-finals, there's a good chance the eye-catching trophy could be heading for these shores for the first time since 2012.

And Cancelo, who is himself recovering from a calf strain, believes Ronaldo will do "anything" to play in the tie.

"We are confident of having him at Ajax on Wednesday", the Juventus boss told Sky Italia.

The Old Lady will be hoping from something similar on Wednesday night, and again the following Tuesday when Ajax travel to Italy for the reverse fixture. "He likes how we are playing and in his opinion, we can beat Juve".

Meanwhile, Ajax have no new injury concerns with Hassan Bande and Carel Eiting long term absentees.

To come here (and celebrate) two years in a row is great - this is a great community, everyone gets on well, so it's great to see a big crowd here.

Juventus came close in first-half stoppage-time with a clever overhead kick from Mario Mandzukic which was tipped over the crossbar by Pepe Reina. The Dutch side have not beaten the Italians in the competition since winning the 1973 European Cup final in Belgrade (1-0).

"In the Champions League you can't take anything for granted".

Manager Erik ten Hag says his side are happy to be the "surprise" package in this season's Champions League quarter-final.

Ajax are chasing their first crown since 1995 and an unprecedented double is also on the cards for them too, as they continue to negotiate a thrilling title with PSV in the Eredivisie.

"I am not sure whether Ronaldo will be fit, he was rested at the weekend".

Juventus are robust and like a physical contest whereas Ajax are creative and energetic.

Speaking to FM Club 974 in Argentina, as quoted by The Mail, he said: "I don't want to forget anyone, but I think that Neymar, [Kylian] Mbappe, [Eden] Hazard, Luis Suarez and [Sergio] Aguero are the best".
