Judging by the trailer above, Chucky won't be going at it alone, because Buddi dolls can connect to any Kaslan device. "Something is wrong with Chucky".

'Andy, I know this move has been really tough, but this is supposed to be a new start for us, ' Aubrey Plaza's character Karen told her son.

Her skepticism soon turns to horror when she finds herself in Chucky's clutches.

Hamill's participation was announced last month at WonderCon, with the Star Wars vet taking over from original Chucky Brad Dourif. It's a complete reboot (computer pun apropos) of 1988's Child's Play, directed by Tom Holland and written by Don Mancini. The cast also includes Brian Tyree Henry playing Detective Mike Norris and Tim Matheson playing Henry Kaslan, CEO of the company that makes the Buddi dolls. And remember: "he's more than just a toy, he's your best friend". Child's Play this summer, we're gonna have some fun. The film reimagines Chucky's origin story, much like the way 2017's It gave new life to an old and terrifying character.

But while Child's Play and the first sequel were big hits, they came right at the end of the slasher cycle, and the failure of Child Play 3 in 1991 meant the series lay dormant for several years.
