"I and other Democratic candidates are running campaigns based on principles and ideas and not engaging in mudslinging or personal attacks on each other", Sanders wrote in the April 13 letter first obtained by The New York Times.

Donald Trump will have to release five years of tax returns if he wants appear on the IL 2020 presidential ballot, the state's senate has ruled.

Sanders said in his remarks at a community meeting in Gary, Indiana: I didn't know that it was a crime to write a good book which turns out to be a bestseller. Then it's off to OH on Monday. "If I make a lot of money, you make a lot of money, that is what I believe", Sanders added, defiant and plainly frustrated by the line of questioning. He's looking to repeat in states he won in 2016 and expand his territory.

However, Democrats feel like the momentum is on their side in the Midwest.

Democrats are putting a heavy emphasis on winning back three states Trump narrowly captured in 2016: Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania.

The memo said that Sanders has received donations from more than 8,000 people in Wisconsin, 14,000 in MI and 18,000 in Pennsylvania.

More numbers in Biden's favor come from a recent Morning Consult poll, which states he's the second choice of Bernie Sanders supporters, Kamala Harris supporters, and Beto O'Rourke supporters, suggesting the broad, if secondary appeal of the former vice-president.

The Sanders campaign said in a memo prepared in advance of the trip that the pathway to victory runs through the Midwest. But Hillary Clinton pounded him in Pennsylvania, 56% to 44%. It was hosted in Lordstown High School by the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), which invited Sanders to talk to the members of its Lordstown chapter, Tribune Chronicle reported on Thursday.

But pollster Charles Franklin cautioned about reading too much into the numbers a full year before Wisconsin's April 2020 primary. A major focus of Sanders' message was the future of the economy and how it effects working class families, like those in Lordstown. Earlier this week, Sanders unveiled his latest "Medicare for All" proposal, an idea that has influenced Democratic state lawmakers in Wisconsin who are advocating for similar statewide health insurance coverage.

The senator accused the group of undermining the Democratic Party's "effort to defeat Donald Trump" and demanded the Washington think tank end its "counterproductive negative campaigning" against himself, Booker, Warren and other progressive liberal Democrats.
