Embattled singer R Kelly makes brief paid appearance at club

Kelly has vehemently denied any allegations of sexual misconduct.

R Kelly returned to social media to request the media to "go easy" on him before his club appearance in IL.

Kelly's fans at the Dirty South Lounge allegedly showed him much love, attention and appreciation.

R. Kelly arrives at the Daley Center for a hearing in his child support case at the Daley Centre, March 6, 2019, in Chicago. He then spent about half an hour mixing with fans who paid $50 to $100 to see him.

Kelly thanked supporters, sang a line from one of his songs for 28 seconds and spent about 35 minutes taking selfies and conversing with fans.

The fee had been $100 for the event, but that was reduced to $50 after Kelly arrived, it was reported.

The outlet reports that there were a number of fans outside of the club who were left disappointed, and some went on to claim it was not worth the $100 price of admittance.

According to CNN affiliates WICS and WRSP, the singer made an appearance at Dirty South Lounge in Springfield, Illinois, early Sunday morning.

Hours before he was set to appear Kelly announced the event on his official Instagram account and appealed to the media.

"I want the media to take it easy on me, man", he said. This is how I gotta get paid now.

Knowing that he is bound to get bad press for any images and video of him seen partying, Kelly asked the media to "take it easy" on him, making it clear this is the best way for him to make money at this time.

Others said they came out to support Kelly the artist and noted that they can separate the charges from the musician. "Appreciate it y'all. Thanks".
