Four Sri Lankan terror suspects arrested at Luton airport

The men, all Sri Lankan nationals, arrived in Luton on Wednesday evening.

According to a statement from the Metropolitan Police, British authorities "were made aware of the men" who had arrived in the United Kingdom on an global flight on the evening of Wednesday, 10 April.

UK's Daily Mail reported that Airport police arrested the men and handed them over to anti terrorism officers from the Met Police Counter Terrorism Command. Police say the investigation is continuing.

The next day the police stopped them under Schedule 7 of the UK Terrorism Act 2000 at Luton airport.

"The men were then each arrested under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, between approximately 21.30hrs and 23:40hrs".

The men, all Sri Lankan nationals, are now being held in custody at a police station in Bedfordshire, according to Scotland Yard.
